New v II Rules "Nunc Plus Scelus"

FAQ

Q. How many people can play The HellGame?

A. From three to six people can play. The more the better.

Q. How long does it take to play The HellGame?

A. Our playtest sessions usually took less than three hours. Since the game has no set number of turns, mileage may vary. The worst cases we have heard of are 45 minutes on one end and 8 hours on the other.

Q: How many pages are the rules of The HellGame?

A: 32, but only something like a half of that is taken up by the actual rules, and a considerable part of that takes care of rather special cases. The rest is examples, historical notes and such.

Q. How "true" is your representation of Hell? Can a student learn something from it?

A. You can pick up a lot of interesting, amusing and disturbing facts from the game - all of them as "true" as any metaphysical subject gets. However, the editing is ours, and we are not 100% true to anyone's specific version of Hell.

Q. Won't some people think that this might be a dangerous game, possibly influenced by the Dark One himself?

A. People who believe in the existence of Satan say that the last thing the Fallen One likes is exposure. If Satan truly wanted to create a board game, he'd probably publish something called "Get More Candy! - Gotta eat them all!"

Q. How old should I be to play the game?

A. Any bright thirteen to fourteen year-old will have no problem picking up the rules. As for the subject matter, a bit of parental discretion might be advised, all dependent on the standards in one's community.

Q. Don't you find it a bit tasteless to make a game about Hell?

A. No.
